What better way to prepare for ski season than hitting up the annual Hesperus Ski Swap in Durango? Get rid of your old ski stuff. Get some new or new-to-you ski gear. It’s the best ever.

This year, Hesperus Ski Patrol’s Ski Swap will be from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Saturday, November 1, at the La Plata County Fairgrounds smack in the middle of Durango (also known as 2500 Main Ave. — just a few blocks from our hotel, by the way).

More that 20 vendors from Colorado and New Mexico will be hawking more than 10,000 items at the annual ski swap, now in its 51st year, if you can believe that. The Hesperus Ski Swap features new and used ski and snowboard gear, clothing, equipment and ski passes as well as hiking gear, car racks and back packs.

In addition to vendors, normal everyday Joes like yourself can sell their personal equipment. Individuals must check their gear in during public check-in, 3 p.m. to 8 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 30, at the fairgrounds. Each item must have a minimum price of $5, and the cost to sell is $1 per item. If you want to sell some good gear during the ski swap, this is the only option, so remember to check in Oct. 30.

For more info, contact the Hesperus Ski Patrol at 970-551-0251. While you’re in town stocking up (or selling off) your ski and snowboard gear, put your ski boots up at the Durango Quality Inn. Book your room with us today!
