It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown! Actually, kids will be saying, “I found a great pumpkin, Charlie Brown!” during the Durango train’s annual Peanuts The Great Pumpkin Patch Express that is set to depart Oct. 11 (and Oct. 12, 18 and 19).

The Durango train ride is perfect for even the littlest travelers because it’s only half an hour to the pumpkin patch. Once there, passengers disembark and can spend the next 1 1/2 hours exploring the pumpkin patch and enjoying hay wagon rides, a straw bale maze and live music. Kids and their parents can also get their faces painted and go trick-or-treating (bags will be passed out to kids on the train so they can collect goodies). The whole family can dress up in their Halloween costumes and take pictures with their favorite Peanuts characters, including Snoopy, Lucy and Charlie Brown. And, of course, they will also be able to pick out a pumpkin to take home.

Passengers can also buy lunch and snacks at the pumpkin patch’s food tent (and Mountain View Winery will also be providing some adult refreshment).

The Durango and Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad will have two departures from the downtown Durango train station each day the Peanuts Express is offered: the first at 10 a.m. and the second at 11:30 a.m. Oct. 11 will have a third departure at 1 p.m.

Bring the kids and make a weekend of it in Durango, Colorado; buy your train tickets and book your room with us at the Durango Quality Inn!
