There’s still time to get your tickets for the next Durango Brew Train, this Saturday, Sept. 20! The brew train is a special kind of awesome: beer and trains. Like it could get any better.
The Durango and Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad teamed up with Durango’s local craft breweries — five total — to bring passengers this special pairing of ales and rails. An honest-to-goodness 1920s steam locomotive will huff and puff through the Animas Valley, over mountains and through Cascade Canyon. On board, passengers will sample local brews as their master brewers talk about how they’re made and why they’re so dang tasty. (A light snack will help soak up some of the alcohol content.)
When the Durango train pulls into Cascade Canyon Wye (Trivia break! Did you know a “wye” is a triangular railroad track that’s used for turning locomotives or trains? I just looked it up.) in the woods of the San Juan National Forest, passengers will step off the train to find tents and taps and talks from each of the five breweries: Durango Brewing, Ska Brewing, Carver Brewing, Steamworks Brewing and Brew Pub and Kitchen.
Bluegrass band Sugar Creek will be strumming up a storm, and Durangourment will be dishing up hors d’oeuvres. Passengers can also play yard games and stroll along the river.
P.S. Some of the proceeds will go to the United Way of Southwest Colorado, so that’s extra cool.
Make a weekend of your trip on the Durango Brew Train and book a room with us at the Durango Quality Inn!
