Breweries in Durango Colorado

The diverse offering of dining experiences in Durango Colorado is well documented. In 2012 the Durango Herald pointed out that the tourist friendly city of Durango actually has more restaurants per capita than San Francisco, of which Bon Appétit recognized as the highest (Jan 18, 2012). The Durango Area Tourism office has put together a Brewery Tasting/Tour package for the four brew companies in Durango.  The tour package provides an all inclusive tour of each brewery, with tasters at each location, and includes your transportation so everyone can join in the fun! Ska Brewing company offers a wide range of brews from the “smooth and sexy” True Blond Ale to the “old man bitter” Modus Hoperandi IPA. And because you’ve got a driver, you can be daring enough to give the Nefarious Ten Pin Imperial Porter a try!  Steamworks brews can only be rivaled by the great food they serve at the restaurant! Start light with a crisp Colorado Kölsch and work your way up through the Lizard Head RED to their most highly hopped beer, The Conductor. If you’re feeling adventurist, try the Prescribed Burn, which features Habanero, Poblano, and Hatch Green Chiles. Carvers Brews range from the Lightner Creek Lager to Iron Horse Stout. If you’ve been filling up on hoppy bitter beers, get adventurous and try the Brew inspired by Durango’s best Breakfast- the Razzmosa! Its part OJ, part Raspberry Wheat, with a squeeze of lime and a splash of Chambord! Durango Brewing Company is the 3rd oldest microbrewery in Colorado. Try the Derail Ale, which won a Gold Medal at the Great American Beer Festival or the 2009 GABF Gold Medal Winner seasonal ale Colorfest.  If you’re still thirsty after the tour you can head downtown to one of the many bars or pubs for night cap!
