We know you love “The Walking Dead.” We do, too.
Now you can get a taste of what your favorite TV characters go through while you try to “outrun and outsmart a field full of zombies” during the 7th annual Zombie Challenge at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 26, in the Three Springs neighborhood.
During the 1.5-mile course, participants will have to navigate zombie-infested obstacle courses and challenge zones, all while dodging zombies that are trying to “bite” them. (Don’t worry; no actual biting will take place. Zombies try to steal runners’ “health flags,” instead.)
There’s no age limit for the Zombie Challenge, so bring the kids along so they can be terrified, too — although anyone under the age of 10 must run with a parent or guardian.
Registration includes the Walker-ridden course, a post-race giveaway, and entrance to the Apocolypse After Party, where each participant will get one free drink (beer or soda).
Because the Zombie Challenge benefits Big Brothers Big Sisters of Southwest Colorado, each runner can also set up their own personal fundraising web page, and anyone who raises more than $50 will receive a prize.
Register before Oct. 21 for a discounted registration fee!
If you’d rather be a zombie than zombie bait — or if you’d like to volunteer to help with other race-day needs — contact Ann-Marie at ann-marie@bbig.org or 970-247-3720 for more information.
You’ll need your rest before you have to run from all those zombies, so be sure to book your room at the Durango Quality Inn today!
