You still have a week to get your $5 advance tickets for Durango Nature Studies’ fifth annual Bluegrass Festival, 5 p.m. to 8:30 pm., Thursday, Aug. 8, at Rotary Park. Tickets are available at Band Wagon Music or Maria’s Bookshop, or you can buy them at the “door” (ahem, park) for $7 on the day of the event. Kids 6 and younger are free, so pack some snacks and bring the family.

The Bluegrass Festival is an annual fundraiser that benefits Durango Nature Studies, a nonprofit environmental education program that provides classes, workshops, nature walks and full moon hikes for kids and adults alike.

This year’s Bluegrass lineup features three local bands: Chicken Strange, Flume Canyon Boys and Waiting on Trial.

While you’re getting your fill of banjo, mandolin, and upright bass, feel free to fill up on beer, brats, root beer and pizza, all of which will be available for purchase during the festival.

Whatever brings you to Durango, Colorado, next week, be sure to book your room at the Durango Quality Inn and catch some bluegrass while you’re here!
