Pumpkin spice your latte all you want, but nothing says “fall” quite like a pumpkin patch. And nothing says “Durango” quite as much as the Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad — so why not combine the two on the PEANUTS The Great Pumpkin Patch Express?

Durango is home to several pumpkin patches, but this special event on the Durango train is an annual favorite for kids of all ages (including the adult versions). The theme is based on the 1966 animated television classic, “It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown.”

The train leaves the downtown Durango depot for a 30-minute ride to the Durango pumpkin patch where kiddos can meet Charlie Brown, hug Snoopy and bring home their perfect pumpkin. During the ride, each child will receive a trick-or-treat bag to gather goodies at the pumpkin patch. Make sure the whole family dresses up to get a chance to win a prize for the best costume during the costume contest!

• Football-Kicking Contest
• Funhouse Maze to get to the pumpkin patch! The maze includes silly mirrors, smoke machines, lasers and optical illusions.
• Stomp Rockets: Stomp on the launch pad to propel Super High Performance Stomp Rockets up to 400 feet in the air!

Meanwhile, grownups can enjoy the food tent for lunch, beverages and snacks. Whether you want coffee and cookies or burgers and burritos, the food tent offers plenty of options. Four Leaves Winery will also be offering a selection of their wines, both red and white, and their seasonal fall wine, a Pumpkin Spice Port. Four Leaves Winery will offer complimentary tastings, and 21-and-over types can also buy glasses and bottles. There will also be a beer tent for the adults where 100 percent of proceeds will go directly to Community Connections to help children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
