Fall is in the air, and with that first nippy night comes the hankering to hunker down. There’s no better way to warm up than with a dip in some hot springs. Well, I don’t know about no better way, but hot springs are definitely up there.

Southwest Colorado has plenty of hot springs—thanks, geological stuff!—and some are within easy driving distance of your home-base hotel in Durango (cough, the Durango Quality Inn, cough).

Trimble Spa & Natural Hot SpringsDurango

Trimble Spa and Natural Hot Springs in Durango is a quick 10-minute drive due north of the Quality Inn Durango on Main Avenue, aka U.S. Highway 550. At Trimble, visitors can soak in therapy pools filled with mineral-rich waters that range from 100 to 110 degrees Fahrenheit: The Community Pool is kept at 104 degrees and the Half-Moon Pool can reach up to 110 degrees. Guest can swim laps in the 250,000-gallon Olympic Pool that’s filled with municipal water and heated to about 82 degrees using hot springs water. Visitors can also relax in the sauna or get a massage, wrap, facial or scrub at the spa.

The Springs Resort and SpaPagosa Springs

The Springs Resort and Spa is a luxury getaway with nearly two dozen soaking pools with names like Clouds in My Coffee, Cozy Cove and Marco Polo (five of which are adults-only for greater relaxation),  but their claim-to-fame is being home to the world’s deepest geothermal spring. The resort also features a spa and salon as well as a 79-room hotel, but with room rates topping $250 a night, not everyone who can afford to daily hot springs rate can afford to stay the night. The resort is about 61 miles east of Durango—and hour and 15 minute drive on U.S. Highway 160—so you can easily stay at Durango hotels (pick us, pick us!) and drive over for a day of melting away in the hot springs.

Overlook Hot Springs SpaPagosa Springs

Also in Pagosa Springs, so also only an hour’s drive east of Durango, the Overlook Hot Springs Spa offers rooftop hot springs pools, five indoor pools and a private hot springs tub room, all set in a Victorian-era building. Guests can sip on a glass of wine or enjoy a beer while soaking in the rooftop pools or one of the five indoor pools or schedule a variety of massages at the spa.

Healing Waters Resort & SpaPagosa Springs

In Pagosa Springs (we’re sensing a theme here; guess the “springs” part of the name is fitting), Healing Waters Resort and Spa offers a mineral-water swimming pool, outdoor soaking tub and indoor hot baths. Spa services include a range of massage types, reiki, reflexology and acupressure treatments.

Be sure to include a trip to the nearby Durango hot springs in your Durango vacation. There are several options within a few minutes or an easy hour’s drive from the Durango Quality Inn. Be sure to book your room with us today, and start relaxing right away!
