Keep the Family Happy Over the Holidays

Christmas is nearly upon us, and we say “upon us” because it really does seem to pounce, doesn’t it? Sheesh.

And Christmas isn’t the only big shebang that’s only a couple weeks away; Fort Lewis College graduation for the fall semester is also just around the corner. That means plenty of family will be in town, and that means they’ll be looking for things to do in Durango.

We all know about the Durango train’s Polar Express, which will be running nearly daily through Jan. 3, and there are plenty of holiday concerts and performances, including Joseph and His Amazing Technicolor Coat and the Bar D Wranglers Christmas Jubilee.

But that still leaves lots of unfilled family time. Gulp. Here’s a brief guide of lesser-known ways to keep the fam-damily entertained from before commencement until after Christmas.

Things to Do in Durango With the Family

Dec. 18: Souper Thursdays feature homemade soup and, on this particular Thursday, live music from the Pete Giuliani Band at Ska Brewing, 225 Girard St. in Durango.

While all your family is in town, don’t feel an ounce of guilt sending them over to stay with us at the Durango Quality Inn. We’ll take good care of ’em, and we won’t get offended if they criticize our decorating choices or ask us when we’re going to give them little Quality Inns. Book their rooms with us today!
