Holiday Tree Lighting and Singing With Santa in Durango

Mr&MrsSantaClaus

It’s the day after Thanksgiving. You’ve packed away as much turkey as humanly possible. You’ve wiped out the pumpkin pie stash. You’ve gotten your fill of all things Thanksgiving (except for leftovers, of course). So what’s next?

Christmas, obviously. And Christmas in Durango starts with Santa. And singing. And strings of lights.

Stop by Buckley Park in downtown Durango between 5:30 and 8 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 28, for the city’s annual holiday tree lighting. Bring the kids and join in the countdown to light the city’s majestic Christmas tree. You’ll also find Santa and Mrs. Claus at the park, and everyone can join in singing carols with Santa. Kids can also get their pictures taken with Mr. Nose-Like-a-Cherry himself and let him know what they want to wake up to on Christmas Day.

In addition to the tree lighting ceremony and visiting with Santa, complimentary cookies and hot chocolate will also be plentiful — just don’t try to sing carols and eat cookies at the same time.

While you’re working on your Christmas shopping list and making your holiday plans, don’t forget to book your room (or a room for your out-of-town guests) at the Durango Quality Inn for the Christmas holiday!
