Mmm…Thanksgiving dinner. Turkey. Gravy. Mashed potatoes. Gravy. Green beans. Gravy. Cranberry sauce. Gravy. Pumpkin pie. Gravy. Did we mention gravy?
Maybe you don’t love gravy as much as we do — we forgive you — but pretty much everyone loves Thanksgiving dinner, which is why it can be rough if you’re traveling and don’t have anywhere to go for the traditional T-Day fare. (Or maybe you don’t want to spend the entire day with your family just to get your hands on a slice of pecan pie; we don’t judge.)
If you’ll be in Durango, Colorado, this Thanksgiving Day and are looking for places to partake, here are a few options for Thanksgiving dinner in Durango:
- Durango Community Thanksgiving Dinner: Enjoy a traditional Thanksgiving meal with all the fixin’s in a warm, welcoming atmosphere at the annual Durango Community Thanksgiving Dinner. Dinner will be served from noon to 2 p.m. at the La Plata County Fairgrounds, located at 2500 Main Ave. in the heart of Durango, just a couple blocks from our hotel. Everyone is welcome, and dinner — as it has been for 27 years — is free.
- Mahogany Grille at the Strater Hotel: In addition to the traditional Thanksgiving turkey and trimmings, the Mahogany Grille at the historic (and stately) Strater Hotel will dish up some twists during its Thanksgiving Day buffet, including pan-seared salmon, vegetable lasagna, and carved prime rib with au jus, horseradish sauce and mango pepper chutney. Yes, please! For more information, check out Mahogany Grille’s Thanksgiving buffet menu or call the restaurant at 970-247-4433.
- Sky Ute Casino Thanksgiving Buffet: Carved honey-glazed ham, candied yams, cornbread stuffing — yup, sounds like Thanksgiving. Sky Ute Casino in nearby Ignacio, Colorado, will be hosting a Thanksgiving Day buffet from noon to 8 p.m. The Thanksgiving feast is $21.95 per person, and reservations for the holiday dinner are highly recommended. The casino’s Seven Rivers Steak Seafood Spirits restaurant will also be open for Thanksgiving Day.
Whether you spend $100 dollars or zero dollars on Thanksgiving dinner this year, Durango offers plenty of places to stuff yourself with stuffing and be grateful for the opportunity to do so.
